1603 The first member of the Flower family (Captain George Flower) arrives in Ireland after the "Battle of Kinsale".
1627 Captain George Flower dies in Waterford.
1660 William Flower (son of George) is honoured with a knighthood after establishing a reputation for military excellence and personal fortune. Residing in the area of North Ossory (including the lands of Durrow), this is where the reign of the Flower family in Durrow began.
1669 William Flower is appointed the "Commissioner of Appeals" (19 July) concerning the excise on spirits and new imports at a yearly fee of £120.
1681 William Flower dies at the family property in Finglas, North Dublin. His only son, Captain Thomas Flower, inherits the properties of Durrow and the estates of his mothers' family (the Savage family) in Finglas.
1685 William Flower, son of Captain Thomas Flower, is born.
1700 Captain Thomas Flower dies and his 15-year-old son, William Flower, inherits the family properties, including those of his fathers' second wife Miss Jeffery (a Welsh woman).
1708 William Flower, now a Colonel, has the lands of Durrow released to him and his heirs by the Duke of Ormonde.
1712 Work commences on Castle Durrow under the supervision of Colonel William Flower.
1716 The first stage of the construction of Castle Durrow is completed and ready to be occupied. William continues to build and improve his House into the mid-1730's.
1733 In October, Colonel William Flower is elevated to the position of Baron Castle Durrow.
1744 William Flower, only son of Henry, is born.
1746 The Rt. Hon. William, Baron Castle Durrow, one of His Majesty's Privy Council of Ireland, dies on 29th April and is succeeded by his son, Henry Flower (The 2nd Baron Castle Durrow).
1751 Henry Flower, 2nd Baron Castle Durrow, becomes the first Lord Ashbrook of Castle Durrow on 30th September.
1752 2nd Baron Castle Durrow, Viscount Ashbrook (Henry Flower) dies on 27th June and is succeeded by his only son, William, 3rd Baron Castle Durrow, 2nd Viscount Ashbrook.

1776 Henry Jeffery, second son of William, is born on 6th November.

1802 William, the 3rd Viscount Ashbrook, who was a delicate man, dies unmarried and is succeeded by his brother, Henry Jeffery, 4th Viscount Ashbrook.
1806 Henry, son of Henry Jeffery, 4th Viscount Ashbrook, is born on 17th June.
1828 Henry is married on 7th June.
1829 Henry Jeffery, first son of Henry, 5th Viscount Ashbrook, is born on 4th May.
1830 William Spencer, second son of Henry, 5th Viscount Ashbrook, is born on 23rd March.
1832 Henry builds the "Red Line Hotel". This building stands to the left of the bridge on entry into Durrow Village.
1836 Robert Thomas, third son of Henry, 5th Viscount Ashbrook, is born on 1st April.
1847 Lord Henry Jeffery, who was first a midshipman, then a soldier, fought in the Battle of the Nile, died on 4th May, aged 81 years. His son, also named Henry, who became the 5th Viscount Ashbrook, succeeded him.
1860 Henry Jeffery Flower marries.
1866 Robert Thomas Flower marries former Gertrude Hamilton of Bath.
1870 Llowrach, son of Robert Thomas (8th Viscount Ashbrook), is born on 9th July.
1871 Henry, 5th Viscount Ashbrook, dies on 3rd August leaving three sons (In order of birth: Henry Jeffery, William Spencer, Robert Thomas). Henry Jeffery succeeds his father and becomes the 6th Viscount Ashbrook. Reginald Henry, second son of Robert Thomas Flower is born.
1882 Henry Jeffery, 6th Viscount Ashbrook, dies on 14th December without children. His brother, William Spencer succeeds becoming the 7th Viscount Ashbrook.
1906 William Spencer, 7th Viscount Ashbrook, dies on 25th November without children. His brother Robert Thomas succeeds and becomes the 8th Viscount Ashbrook at the age of 70.
1919 Robert Thomas, 8th Viscount Ashbrook, dies on 12th March. He is succeeded by his son, Llowrach, 9th Viscount Ashbrook, known locally as "Lowey" who was the last of the Ashbrook family to reside in Castle Durrow.
1922 The decision to leave Castle Durrow is made by Lord "Lowey" when he signed over the remaining acreage of his original 4,515 acre estate in Durrow to Michael and Edward Maher of Freshford, Kilkenny, for £30,695, on 23rd March.
